Nose reshaping surgery, known as rhinoplasty, can create a more balanced nasal shape and size while improving function. He is highly sought after for his work with challenging revision rhinoplasties, correcting unsatisfactory results caused by other surgeons.

Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty can improve the results of previous rhinoplasty procedures. Performed at top plastic surgeon Dr. Barry Weintraub’s QUAD A-accredited NYC surgical center, revision rhinoplasty is an extremely popular procedure. More than half of Dr. Weintraub’s rhinoplasty practice is related to re-operating on unfortunate rhinoplasty results from other offices. For those patients who are unhappy with a prior nose surgery, Dr. Weintraub strives to achieve the natural-looking results that patients originally had in mind when first opting for rhinoplasty.

What Is Revision Rhinoplasty?

Revision rhinoplasty is particularly difficult because the nose’s normal anatomy has been altered, often resulting in scarring and the distortion of nasal structures. Revision rhinoplasty requires fine, detailed precision work, such as using other elements (for example, the nasal septum) to reconfigure the shape of the nose. Oftentimes, the results from prior surgery done elsewhere can leave patients with undesired facial aesthetics, such as:

  • Over-skeletonized noses.
  • Noses that are crooked.
  • Noses that are out of alignment, badly shaped, or out of harmony with the rest of the face.

In difficult cases such as these, it is Dr. Weintraub’s expertise in creating an aesthetically pleasing result that causes patients worldwide to seek his skill. Additionally, revision rhinoplasty can correct breathing or functional issues caused by a prior nasal surgery. Those suffering from breathing impairments, including a deviated septum or middle-vault collapse, can undergo nasal surgery to correct these conditions.

Patients can opt to undergo secondary rhinoplasty or tertiary rhinoplasty at Dr. Weintraub’s NYC state-of-the-art, futuristic surgical facility. These procedures, although difficult, are some of Dr. Weintraub’s favorites to perform due to the satisfaction of patients after finally achieving the results they’ve longed for. Dr. Weintraub utilizes either open or closed rhinoplasty approaches, depending on the needs and desires of the individual patient. During closed rhinoplasty, there are no incisions made on the outside of the nose, while open rhinoplasty requires an incision at the base of the nose that is sewn with microscopic suture material under loupe magnification to minimize any suture line and ensure near invisibility.

When choosing a Rhinoplasty Revision Surgeon, you should:

  • Check for board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (there are many other boards, some legitimate, some not, but there is only one American Board of Plastic Surgery, established in 1931)
  • Ensure that the physician has privileges at a major hospital in your community, and is in good standing with that hospital
  • Confirm that he or she has a fine reputation amongst other medical professionals in your community
  • Speak to the surgeon’s patients who have undergone similar procedures

Remember, this is your surgery, and you are interviewing the doctor as much as he’s interviewing you. Do not hesitate to bring a list of questions with you to your consultation. And remember: a good surgeon is someone who not only has the skill to perform the surgery but is someone who understands your specific needs and desires. A good surgeon should listen, listen, and listen!

Have no fear during your consultation. This is a time to speak, to be heard, to learn, and to develop a trusting relationship. Questions can be answered, and fears allayed. And while Dr. Weintraub is at the cutting edge of his field in terms of technique and medical developments, you will find his office environment to be comforting, personable, and inviting. He and his staff truly care about each and every patient, and take great pride in making themselves available to help with every step of the process.

Considering Rhinoplasty

While there is no specific chronological age that determines when you should have some rejuvenative procedures, a Rhinoplasty should be done only after the growth spurt has finished, and you are over 13 years of age. If you fit these requirements and see something that truly bothers you when you look in the mirror, it is time to pick up the phone and schedule an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Weintraub in New York. Likewise, there is only one person to have plastic surgery for: you and you alone. It should never be undertaken due to pressure from others.

Goals of Revision Rhinoplasty

Your nose is right in the center of your face. A one-millimeter change in any direction can make a dramatic difference between a subpar result and a magnificent Rhinoplasty result.

Revision rhinoplasty is meant to correct aesthetic and/or functional issues caused by prior nose surgeries done elsewhere. Patients who are unhappy with rhinoplasty procedures performed by other offices can undergo either secondary or tertiary rhinoplasty at Dr. Weintraub’s New York City surgical center. Revision rhinoplasty can correct asymmetries of the bridge, tip of the nose, or nostrils to bring balance to the entire facial profile. Breathing conditions, such as a deviated septum, can also be corrected to improve functionality.

The Best Candidates for Rhinoplasty Revision

The best candidates for revision rhinoplasty are well-balanced, in good general health, and possess realistic expectations. You are an excellent candidate if you’ve done your homework, have had your consultation, and the following three things are present:

  • You are highly motivated to make the change.
  • You have the ability to pause your daily responsibilities (work, family, school, etc.) in order to undergo the procedure.
  • You have the financial wherewithal to make an elective cosmetic surgery come to fruition.

For those patients living out of town or overseas who seek to have surgery in NYC, Dr. Weintraub advises a two-night post-operative stay. He has a relationship with many fine hotels where his patients are given a special reduced rate. A private nurse can also be provided.

Testimonials

“It seems to me, that in discussing Dr. Weintraub, we are necessarily discussing surgical genius or at least the work of one such virtuoso. He is equipped with a kind of dual aesthetic judgment and technical ability, which is to say, that the good doctor is able to keenly observe and correct minute details while accounting for the overall aesthetic presentation and never sacrificing one for the other. He’s not only a keenly skilled technician but also a more generally talented artist. While most surgeons fall victim to perceiving in a very mechanistic way, causing a loss of resolution in the overall work, Dr. Weintraub seems to work in greater detail but with a conscious fluidity that allows him to execute what he, in agreement with his patients, find aesthetically pleasing.
As an artist myself with a recognized career in music, I imagined that I would be among the more difficult of the surgeon’s clients. Having studied visual art and being a recognizable image of peoples’ expectations (i.e., when fans see me), I knew immediately that the work to be done would be under great scrutiny and would require great subtlety. Despite all of my reservations, I knew if any surgeons would find themselves able, it would take someone as masterful as Dr. Weintraub to pull it off.
Today, no one has remotely noticed that I have undergone surgical rhinoplasty. Instead, people continue to stop and stare as they had before and those closest to me admire the symmetry, lines, and angles of my face. We all fall subject to our own vanity, it’s undeniable not to acknowledge that appearances give us an edge in today’s highly competitive world. Dr. Weintraub’s work is a brilliant paradox in that it documents a phenomenal improvement but in a wildly subtle manner.”

“Dr. Weintraub is the “Da Vinci” of plastic surgeons. I love my facelift and I’m recommending him to my friends. His skillful eye restores and sculpts youth and beauty by discussing all options available without any pressure. He not only performed my facelift but improved other areas of my face that we both agreed needed improvement….

I was starting to feel self conscious about my appearance, as unlike years ago, I was now the oldest person in my department and was getting tired of people telling me I looked tired first thing in the morning, even when I wasn’t!

I was looking for a natural looking uplift that wouldn’t appear obvious I had work done, but instead would look like I just came back from a long vacation and had that refreshed, “you look great!” appearance again, and most of all, I didn’t want to look different…. The same “me”, but ten years younger.
Dr. Weintraub’s approach and philosophy appealed to me. When I discussed my concerns, at first, I asked for restylane, as I didn’t have much in the way of cheek bones and thought that would do it. It looked great, but he did tell me that if I wanted a permanent fix, surgery was the way to go, as I was no longer in my 40’s but well past late 50’s.

As with any surgery, I visited 2 other plastic surgeons, one recommend for his low prices. Both had lower prices, but when I saw the before and after photos of past patients, well, to be totally frank, I wanted to run out of their offices! Their patients faces were so “tugged” and unnatural looking. In one photo of an eyelid lift, the woman looked “startled”….

I knew neither surgeon was for me and price should never be a determining factor when deciding on something as precious as your physical appearance, especially your face!

I went back to Dr. Weintraub and discussed my experience with the other surgeons. He made some suggestions and after looking through books of before and after photos of his previous patients, I knew Dr. Weintraub was the only surgeon I would let perform my facelift, and I scheduled my appointment.
The day of my surgery the nurse who greeted me couldn’t have put me more at ease. Her kind and caring manner made me feel I was in the best of hands.

Dr. Weintraub went over everything with me beforehand and made sure I had no additional questions. His delicate and caring manner was exactly what I was looking for as I was confident that I would come out looking natural and not overdone or fake.

Surgery went great, and after following his post op instructions I was up and about and loving my new refreshed look! I even had him fix my nose that before drooped when I smiled, and that little adjustment also made such a difference and made me look younger and my profile so much better! I love my nose now!!
We also discussed having a mole removed on the side of my eye. He was right, removing it made my eyes look much more appealing and bright!!

So what more can I say about the kind Dr. Weintraub and his staff…. Wonderful!! My facelift was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, it not only improved my image, but also my self confidence. Best of all, no one says I look tired anymore, even when I am!”

“It is very gratifying to decide to improve one’s looks and to have that decision prove to be a good one. Even better than good. Great. I had a neck lift with Dr. Weintraub. Before, my neck hung over my shirt collar like it was reaching to shake hands with my tie. Now when I dress in the morning, I see the neck I had 20 years ago. A great transformation.”

“Thanks to Dr. Weintraub for fixing bad results from two procedures I had in Europe and UAE with surgeons who said they specialized in plastic surgery but nearly ruined my face, leaving me thinking there wasn’t any solution until I found Dr. Weintraub on the internet. I sent photos and spoke to Dr. Weintraub who is as nice as he is talented! He was super compassionate and suggested certain surgical techniques to correct the surgery I had before, and I was confident I had found the right doctor to improve things! I travelled to New York in March and had surgery two days later, with all my appointments made for me by Dr. Weintraub’s staff who are very helpful, scheduling my appointments around a parade on Fifth Avenue so I didn’t get stuck in the traffic. Dr. Weintraub came to visit every day at my hotel across the street and called and emailed after I returned home to make sure I have healed well. I am absolutely thrilled and super satisfied with my experience. They were so instrumental making it all happen seamlessly and successfully, so from the bottom of my heart, I thank him sincerely.”
